Terrence's Medicaid Story

As told by his mother, Lewanda

Terrence is my 25-year-old Christmas baby. He has ADHD and Autism and is in the day program at Ray Graham Association. He needs assistance with his medications, help in the bathroom, toileting, showering, dressing, cooking, and cleaning. Terrance is 6’3”, and can only be unsupervised for a short period of time.

Terrence likes watching YouTube videos and old movies on his PlayStation 4, as well as visiting Chuck E. Cheese. He enjoys attending daily programming, including speech therapy. He loves riding the train and going to lunch at the station. He likes to get to the movie theater. He likes airplanes. He likes writing notes to me. He likes baking with assistance, and he loves our dog.

Why Medicaid Is Important to Terrence:

"Medicaid pays for Terrence’s medical needs and medications, covers his Day Programming, and allows him to have a tablet to help him communicate better with people."

What Does His Mom Fear About Medicaid Cuts?

"I fear Terrence could not get the medication he needs to function every day—or any other health care. As a single parent, I worry about any cuts at all because we cannot pay for these programs on our own. Terrence requires daily support, and without Medicaid, he would not have access to it.."
