Saddle up with Amalia

October 11, 2021

Although many nonprofits hit hard times during the past few years, Ray Graham Association is proud to announce it has expanded its services for people with disabilities. This summer, the Hanson Center horsemanship program launched Barn Buddies Lunch Club, and Amalia was an eager founding member!

Barn Buddies Lunch Club meets weekly to develop relationships and to get to know the horses through hands-on activities around the barn. “Amalia’s willingness to step outside of her comfort zone makes her an excellent role model for other participants,” said Horsemanship Administrator Leah Doweidt. Although the Hanson Center program is therapeutic horsemanship, Leah is proud of Amalia’s true horse-womanship!

Each rider learns it is wise to be alert around such large, strong animals, but that caution doesn’t hold back Amalia. She is a careful, confident, and award-winning rider! Thanks to your financial support, Amalia can reach her potential with access to even more therapeutic programs and recreational opportunities.

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding volunteer activity? Come and help with the therapeutic horsemanship program at the Hanson Center in Burr Ridge. No experience is necessary! Our center works with riders with disabilities of all ages and skill levels. If you have questions about volunteering, please email Horsemanship@RayGraham.org or call 630-325-5330.
